Who is Tamara Lechner?
Calls herself a happiness expert. Her journey started when her daughter was diagnosed with autism. She went on a search that leads her to Option Institute that helps people with kids like her daughter and adult personal growth courses. She went to this place not unhappy but feeling numb. There are a lot of things going on her life at that time, a lot of "shoulds" in her life and doing things other people say were good for her. When she go there Tamara thought that she is in a cult and decided to stay because it might help her daughter.
That's where it all started, her journey studying positive psychology. After learning from Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, and Martha Beck; Tamara comes up with seven strategies that people needed in their lives in order to change their baseline happiness.
Baseline Happiness consists of
40%- genetics
10% - life circumstances
50% - controllable by our thoughts
7 strategies that people needed in their lives in order to change their baseline happiness.
Monday - Purpose
Tuesday - Connection
Wednesday - Letting go
Thursday - Authenticity
Friday - Play
Saturday - Mindfulness
Sunday - Gratitude
Three takeaways that you’ll get from this podcast are:
1. Happy doesn't look a certain way; it's maintaining the ability to see the positive even in the face of negativity.
2. One doesn't have to be unhappy in order to begin prioritizing happiness.
3. If we can master Hope I equate that with a happy emotion.
